About the event

If you play an instrument, study music, paint, knit, wash-up, garden or re-build motorbikes to the accompaniment of music, Bach has to be on your list. We will play many of his most wonderful pieces, together with some you might never have heard, with a short introduction to each so that they “make more sense”.

This is not a formal concert!! Please bring your knitting, a book, or crossword, and sit back and zen-out - perhaps with a glass of wine and a few crisps. Bring your own cushion, hot-water bottles if you want to be extra comfortable. Bring your own wine even!

The evening will be in two halves, with a ten-minute interval to stretch the legs or refill the glass (as long as the wine does not run out!).

The HiFi, from the golden-age of audio equipment in the 1970 and early ‘80s, will be quite special. A total of four, powerful amplifiers, will power four sets of speakers. The amps are some of the finest ever made, including Revox, Luxman and Trio mono-bloc systems. They will be linked to classic 1970s British speakers by IMF, Celestion and some newer Wharfedales. The source will be CDs, played by a modern British stereo-system maker, Cyrus, to allow digital signals to be sent to the older, analogue equipment. The sound will be magnificent!

Above all, this will be a fun evening, to be repeated every few months with other composers and groups – ancient and modern. A bit of Mozart or Muse perhaps, or the wistfulness of Leonard Cohen? It’s all coming to Rose Ash soon!

(This is a dog-friendly event. If not being able to leave a dog at home prevents you from coming, bring your dog, as long as they are ok to listen to music in a church!)
