About the event
A wonderful selection of British music from the Late Romantic period (1870 to the 1920s), by Elgar, Holst, Butterworth, Grainger, Stanford, etc. played on superb vintage stereo equipment.
Their music had a special quality, reflecting the confidence of late-Victorian/Edwardian Britain, but also the sadness and poignancy of the experiences of the Great War.
We will hear pieces such as Jerusalem, Nimrod, Fantasia on Greensleeves – and many others that are just as lovely, but less well known.
Entrance is free, and wine and nibbles will be provided. It will last about 90 minutes.
There will be a retiring collection in aid of the church repair fund to replace the badly weathered coping stones, which we hope will start in May next year.
All are welcome - please tell your friends so we can fill the church!
