6pm October 15th, 2023, in St Peter's Church Rose Ash, Andrew Jones will be giving a talk on the history of Rose Ash Church, Rose Ash village/parish, and the surrounding area. This promises to be a fascinating evening and of interest to all in the area. There will be wine and nibbles available and the event will be free; however, donations will be gratefully accepted.
Andrew Jones, our Vicar until 2012, is a well- known author and speaker who specialises in North Devon social history. He has written a comprehensive history of Victorian North Devon, basing it in large part upon the comings and goings of Rose Ash. More specifically, he describes the almost centuries-long “struggle” between the Southcombs, rectors of Rose for some 275 years, and the Tanner-Davys, the local landowners, a story that would make a good basis for a modern TV-soap!
Entrance is free, wine and nibbles provided.
